CITY AND WAR: Round table 'Preservation and Rethinking of the Cultural Heritage of Ukrainian Cities in Times of War'

Since 2014, Russian military aggression against Ukraine has led to significant destruction of cultural heritage sites. At the same time, the war became a trigger for rethinking the cultural heritage of Ukrainian cities. In particular, the attitude of citizens to what deserves to be preserved and renovation, and what heritage should be eliminated (not only as a material object, but also erased from the collective memory of urban communities) has changed. During the round table, a group of experts discussed issues related to the loss of the cultural heritage of Ukraine due to Russian military aggression and strategies for preserving and rethinking the cultural heritage of Ukrainian cities in the conditions of war.

The discussion of the current challenges facing the cultural heritage of Ukraine was organized within the CITY AND WAR project.
